Tatsumi Bridge 巽橋
The area from Shimbashi-dori to the Shirakawa River has been designated as an Important Preservation District for Groups of Traditional Buildings by the national government, and Tatsumi Bridge is a small bridge over the Shirakawa River.
新橋通から白川沿いの地区は国の重要伝統的建造物群保存地区として選定されており、巽橋は、その白川にかかる小さな橋である。
As a picturesque place in Gion, it is used as a filming location for movies and dramas.
祇園の中でも絵になる場所として、映画やドラマのロケ地として使用されている。

Yasaka Shrine 八坂神社
Before the Meiji period (1868-1912), Yasaka Shrine was called Gion Shrine, and since it had a vast precinct that stretched all the way to the Kamogawa River, this area is called Gion.
八坂神社（やさかじんじゃ）は明治（1868年～1912年）以前は祇園社（ぎおんしゃ）と称し、鴨川一帯までの広大な境内地を保有していたため、この界隈のことを祇園と称する。
It is also known as Gion-san or Yasaka-san.
通称として祇園さんや八坂さんとも呼ばれる。
It is also known as the domoto of the Gion Festival (Gion-e).
祇園祭（祇園会）の胴元としても知られる。

Yasaka Koshindo 八坂庚申堂
The monkey is a messenger (companion) of Koshin-san (principal image Aomen Kongo).
お猿さんは庚申さん（本尊 青面金剛）の お使い（仲間） です。
If you entrust your wish to the monkey, he will be sure to pass it on to Koshin-san (principal image of worship).
お猿さんに願いを託せば必ず庚申さん（本尊）に伝えてくれます。
This monkey is called “Kukuri-saru” and represents the monkey’s limbs tied up and unable to move.
このお猿さんは、「くくり猿」と呼ばれ、お猿さんが手足をくくられ動けない姿を表しています。
Monkeys are animals that move around a lot, but people’s hearts are always moving and restless.
お猿さんは、よく動き回る動物ですが、人の心も常に動き回って落ち着かないものです。
Like a monkey, Koshin-san (principal image of worship) is trying to bind your heart so that it does not move with greed.
お猿さんのように、あなたの心も欲につられて動かないように、庚申さん（本尊）の霊力によってくくりつけようとしているのです。
When you try to make a wish come true, doesn’t your “mind” move and try to hinder it or you can’t concentrate?
皆さんが願いを叶えようとするとき、“心”が動いて、それを妨げようとしたり、集中できなかったりしませんか？
So, you tie your “heart” and have Koshin-san control it well.
そこで“心”をくくりつけ、庚申さんにうまくコントロールしてもらうのです。
